The Namibia Road Sector Policy Conference, held from 23–24 September 2024 at the Windhoek Country Club, brought together key players from government, industry, and civil society to chart a new path forward for the nation’s road infrastructure. Organised by the Road Fund Administration (RFA), the Roads Authority (RA), and the Ministry of Works and Transport, the event served as a dynamic platform for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration.
The conference opened with remarks from the Minister of Works and Transport, Hounarable John Mutorwa and a keynote address from the Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Hounarable Iipumbu Shiimi, emphasising the critical role of Namibia’s road sector in driving economic growth and improving national connectivity. The discussions that followed focused on the future of road infrastructure development, road safety, sustainability, and the integration of new technologies to meet the evolving needs of the country.
One of the key highlights was the emphasis on collaboration. The speakers underscored the need for cooperation between public institutions, private stakeholders, and the broader Namibian community to ensure the road sector remains robust and resilient. Several thought-provoking presentations explored innovative solutions for road maintenance, funding strategies, and safety measures designed to protect road users.
The conference concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, as participants committed to turning the ideas shared into actionable steps. The RFA is proud to have played a central role in facilitating these discussions and will continue to champion initiatives that ensure the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of Namibia’s road network.
